How Oswalt Auger Mixers work

The bottom augers rotate clockwise to work together moving material to the front of the mixer. The offset convergence point on the bottom augers reduces torque which lowers horsepower requirements during tough mixing demands and gently lifts the feed to the top augers. To complete the mixing process, top augers move feed to the rear creating a waterfall effect of feed cascading to the bottom augers for a thorough mix in half the time.

New Improvements in the "D" Series Mixers

Dependable Dowel Drive - The NEW, patent pending dependable Dowel Drive provides superior transfer to the augers. The new system adds up to 80% more strength to the drive for rock-solid reliability in tough hay processing and mixing conditions.

The simple chain and sprocket design (see images below) is long-wearing and easy-to-maintain. The entire drive system runs continuously in an enclosed oil bath for added protection and longer life.

Operator's Manuel Holder - Permanently mounted to the mixer in a dry and secure location. The operator’s manual is always available for quick access and reference.

Optional Light Kit - The optional light kit complies with ASAE standards for lighting and marking for operation on roadways.

Oswalt's low profile design means easy loading

Low Profile Design

  • Can be easily loaded with skid steer loaders
  • Fits into narrow feedways and low overhead doorways
  • Stationary models can be loaded with ease from a platform or conveyor
  • Standard poly extensions increase mixing capacity and the flexible design protects
    the mixer from bucket damage

Incorporating more hay into your ration

Oswalt mixers are superior in their ability to mix all types of ration ingredients. When equipped with the optional Hay Saw Processor, you can mix more hay into your ration*.

The Hay Saw is designed to act as hundreds of fingers pulling the slabs of hay apart while ration ingredients are being mixed. It is this pulling action, instead of actual cutting, which helps maintain particle length resulting in a more palatable mix.

Hay Bar Option (not pictured) - The heavy-duty Hay Bar option (standard on Hay Saw units) helps control the flow of material and dry hay into the main auger chamber, assuring proper processing and mixing of all ingredients in as little as three minutes, depending on ration.

How Tuff-Glide® liners can save you time and money - The low-friction, self-lubricating Tuff-Glide® mixer chamber liners reduce mixing pressures as much as 25%. Tuff-Glide® is not affected by acid or moisture and it resists abrasion.

Oswalt’s mixing pattern, along with Tuff-glide® liners help feed material flow freely. This reduces horsepower requirements, virtually eliminates material hang-ups and dead spots. The result is an unmatched quality of mix, in less time, with less horsepower and less wear. The liners extend mixer life and can increase the resale value of your mixer.

Oswalt's value-added features

Quick Couple Auger Flange - Auger tube flanges are bolted directly to the drive shaft with four hardened bolts. This dependable design allows the augers to be quickly removed without opening the rear drive doors!

No Maintenance Nyloil Bearings
Sleeve-type, front, 5-1/2” diameter (Models D200 – D350) and 6-34” diameter (Models D425 – D575) auger bearings are made from 1/2” thick Nyloil.
Nyloil is a refined nylon material that is permanently impregnated with oil for superior lubrication, long life and smooth performance. These Nyloil bearings are not affected by moisture, dust or the corrosive action of feed acid.

Centralized Grease Bank - Conveniently located on the side of the oil bath, this important feature helps reduce maintenance time and extends equipment life.

Heavy Duty Tires and Hubs - Massive H40 x 14.5 aircraft tires are mounted to heavy duty hubs and axles which provide superior ground clearance and flotation for muddy conditions.

Hydraulically Adjustable Conveyor - This convenient hydraulic feature allows the operator to easily set the proper conveyor height for feeding into a bunk, minimizing wind loss. When you are done, the conveyor folds up against the side of the mixer to allow maximum transport clearance. An extended folding conveyor is also available with an added 13” in length.

Baffle Option - This option replaces the discharge chute. It bolts to the end of the conveyor and can be adjusted several ways to match feed flow and bunk requirements. The attached magnet helps trap unwanted metals.

Truck mounted models

Enjoy the comfort and convenience of a truck-mounted mixer. Everything you need to complete the mixing and feeding process is right at your fingertips. Easy-to-use mixer controls are conveniently located within the cab.

Oswalt Models D425, D500, and D575 are available as truck mounts, and have all the same heavy duty design features as the trailer units. These truck mounted mixers are manufactured at our
Fort Atkinson facility.
